  9.           sldtoppm - convert an AutoCAD slide file into a portable
  10.           pixmap

  13.           sldtoppm [-adjust] [-dir] [-height|-ysize s] [-info] [-
  14.                    lib|-Lib name] [-scale s] [-verbose] [-width|-xsize
  15.                    s] [slidefile]

  17.      DESCRIPTION
  18.           Reads an AutoCAD(Reg.) slide file  and  outputs  a  portable
  19.           pixmap.   If  no  slidefile is specified, input is read from
  20.           standard input.  The ppmdraw library is used to convert  the
  21.           vector  and  polygon  information  in  the  slide  file to a
  22.           pixmap; see the file ppmdraw.h for details on this package.

  24.      OPTIONS
  25.           -adjust
  26.                If the display on which the slide file was created  had
  27.                non-square  pixels,  when  the  slide is processed with
  28.                sldtoppm and the -adjust option  is  not  present,  the
  29.                following warning will appear:
  30.                  Warning - pixels on source screen were non-square.
  31.                  Specifying  -adjust  will  correct  image  width   to
  32.                  compensate.
  33.                Specifying the -adjust option causes sldtoppm to  scale
  34.                the  width of the image so that pixels in the resulting
  35.                portable pixmap are square (and hence circles appear as
  36.                true  circles, not ellipses).  The scaling is performed
  37.                in  the  vector  domain,  before  scan  converting  the
  38.                objects.   The  results  are,  therefore,  superior  in
  39.                appearance to what you'd obtain were you to perform the
  40.                equivalent  scaling  with pnmscale after the bitmap had
  41.                been created.

  43.           -dir The input is assumed to be  an  AutoCAD  slide  library
  44.                file.  A directory listing each slide in the library is
  45.                printed on standard error.

  47.           -height size
  48.                Scales the image in the vector domain  so  it  is  size
  49.                pixels  in  height.   If  no -width or -xsize option is
  50.                specified, the width will be adjusted to  preserve  the
  51.                pixel aspect ratio.

  54.                Dump  the  slide  file  header   on   standard   error,
  55.                displaying  the  original  screen size and aspect ratio
  56.                among other information.

  59.                Extracts the slide with the given name from  the  slide

  78.                Extracts the slide with the given name from  the  slide
  79.                library  given  as  input.  The name is used exactly as
  80.                specified; it is not converted to upper case.

  83.                Scales the image by factor s, which may be any floating
  84.                point  value  greater than zero.  Scaling is done after
  85.                aspect ratio adjustment,  if  any.   Since  scaling  is
  86.                performed  in  the vector domain, before rasterisation,
  87.                the results look much better than running the output of
  88.                sldtoppm through pnmscale.

  90.           -verbose
  91.                Dumps the slide file header and lists every vector  and
  92.                polygon in the file on standard error.

  94.           -width size
  95.                Scales the image in the vector domain  so  it  is  size
  96.                pixels  wide.   If  no  -height  or  -ysize  option  is
  97.                specified, the height will be adjusted to preserve  the
  98.                pixel aspect ratio.

  101.                Scales the image in the vector domain  so  it  is  size
  102.                pixels  wide.   If  no  -height  or  -ysize  option  is
  103.                specified, the height will be adjusted to preserve  the
  104.                pixel aspect ratio.

  107.                Scales the image in the vector domain  so  it  is  size
  108.                pixels  in  height.   If  no -width or -xsize option is
  109.                specified, the width will be adjusted to  preserve  the
  110.                pixel aspect ratio.

  112.           All flags  can  be  abbreviated  to  their  shortest  unique
  113.           prefix.

  115.      BUGS
  116.           Only Level 2 slides are converted.  Level 1 format has  been
  117.           obsolete  since the advent of AutoCAD Release 9 in 1987, and
  118.           was not portable across machine architectures.
  119.  
  120.           Slide library items with names containing  8  bit  (such  as
  121.           ISO)  or  16  bit (Kanji, for example) characters may not be
  122.           found when chosen with the -lib option unless  sldtoppm  has
  123.           been   built   with   character   set  conversion  functions
  124.           appropriate to the locale.  You can always  retrieve  slides
  125.           from  libraries regardless of the character set by using the

  141.           member.  Use the -dir option to list the slides in a library
  142.           if you're unsure of the exact name.
